Anyone can videotape a wedding, right? |
WRONG! Though it's easy to put a tape into a "Home Camcorder" and press "Record", it takes an enormous amount of Skills, Experience and State of the Art Video Production Equipment and Professionalism to produce a Professional Wedding Video! Any Wedding Videographer realizes there is only "One Chance" to get the production right. That's a Tremendous Responsibility! It demands years of experience and training, quick thinking and responses, and attention to detail, as well as Professional Knowledge & Skills of video editing, camera techniques, computers, audio recording, and customer relations and people skills. Just as when you hire a caterer, florist or photographer, a Wedding Video is best handled by an Experienced Professional! Anything less is inviting Disaster! |
How much goes into making a video? |
It's quite common for a Videographer to spend 45 to 150 hours on an average wedding. The Videographer will need to talk with you, to understand just what you want from your wedding video; he will visit the site of the wedding to take notes on lighting, power availability, acoustics, and camera locations; and the Videographer will talk with the person performing the service, to find out rules and regulations to follow. During the wedding, the Videographer must make sure to record important guests; wireless microphones and audio for the event must be tested and prepared. All shots must be composed, focused, and correctly exposed. During the exchange of vows, framing and audio must be recorded perfectly, as there are NO Second Chances! During the reception, the Videographer ensures that all family members; friends and guests are videotaped, as well as words of greeting. A professionally edited wedding video will require at least 40 to 65 hours of editing and can go as high as 85 to 150 hours depending on the amount of coverage you buy and the size of your wedding. The Videographer has to pick the right shots, make sure they're edited in correctly, and that all the music matches and audio flows correctly, and that all of the titles are exactly where they should go. It takes a great deal of effort and work to produce a Professional Wedding Video. Pointing a camera is only a fraction of the process! |
Will the Videographer be obtrusive at my wedding? |
This seems to always be discussed with every wedding couple. Far too many people have the "Bad Experience" of an untrained video company that is inexperienced at wedding Videography and it's many intricacies. This is most unfortunate and it doesn't have to be that way. We train all our Videographer to be discreet while at the same time "Getting the Shot". This takes years of mastering and can only be claimed by the true professionals. We promise that our Videographer will be less obtrusive on your wedding day than your still photographer. Almost always unprompted comments from our clients reply; "We hardly noticed that you were there!" We strive to capture your wedding as if through the eyes of the unseen guest. If an even more sensitive approach is required we can be even more low keyed. |
Will there be bright lights used? |
You have hired us to record as beautifully and professionally a video as possible. Any video camera requires light just as a still camera requires a flash to get the optimum results. There is a trade off between the annoyance of a video camera light and the color quality of the video produced. Yes, our Videographer use the best performing variable intensity camera lights and only use as much light as is needed to secure the most colorful beautiful picture. We also have the proud distinction of having invested in the lowest light 3 chip cameras in the region. They will produce a superior video image under below lighting conditions. Seldom do we ever have to add any light during wedding ceremonies and we will only use light discreetly during the reception. Normally our lighting techniques seldom are ever noticed by your guests and complaints are rare. We can shoot without added lighting if wish. |
How long will my wedding video be? |
We shoot everything of value within the context of the coverage that you purchase. Why would you not want everything of value that we shoot? In other words, we put all of the footage of the coverage you purchased into your video, and use our expert editing skills to make it as entertaining as possible, using pacing, vignettes, segways, etc. to keep the video moving as a well scripted production. Often a finished master will be from 1 to 3 hours in length depending on the activities at your event and the instructions you give us. We offer other editing options for a short version but more planning is involved on your part. We can discuss the short version in our studio with you.

How
long will it take to receive my completed video? |
This will depend on the time of year your wedding is recorded and on the timeliness of the needed materials delivered to us for the editing of your footage. Most weddings are on Saturday and are seasonal, taking place from May to October. We begin the season caught up on our editing and as the season progresses, we can not edit them as fast as they are shot every weekend. Because of this we become somewhat backlogged. This is very typical in this industry, worldwide. If we have all of the photos, music, titles, etc. for us to start editing, it normally takes about 6-8 weeks to finish your production. All of our past clients have commented that it is more than worth the wait.

Is video too expensive? |
Compared to what? A wedding video is actually a bargain, considering the amount of time, effort, training and equipment that a Videographer puts into recording your wedding. Comparatively speaking, a Video is probably the least expensive element of your ceremony that will last you the longest. You've probably paid thousands of dollars for a wedding gown, decorations, flowers, cake, reception hall, food and entertainment. The photographer alone probably costs well over a thousand dollars. Most marrying couples don't realize that the Videographer has just as much time and money invested in their business and equipment as a still photographer--and in our company it's a lot more. Professional Grade Video Cameras, Wireless Microphones, Tripods, Editing and Computer Graphics Equipment are extremely expensive. And a Wedding Videographer has to be an Expert in dozens of complex technologies and production techniques. When you consider that your video lasts a Lifetime, The money you spend on a professional wedding video will never be regretted!

How do I choose a wedding video company? |
Ask for recommendations from friends, co-workers or family. Chances are, you know someone who's had their wedding videotaped. Can they recommend the Videographer? Yellow pages advertising is no guarantee of quality! But! Some of the best wedding video companies are small studios that buy Yellow Page advertising. These are the producers you find word-of-mouth, and their advertising there as an easy way for brides to find them! Does their Ad clearly say-Wedding Videos? How interested is the video company in your needs? Be wary of the company that doesn't ask questions, or won't listen to you. A professional Videographer is interested in hearing what you have to say, and only wants to please one person-YOU ! How much experience do they have? Do they shoot weddings EVERY month year after year? If a company can't give you customer references, or if they just started their business last month, it doesn't matter how cheap their prices are! Cheapest is rarely the best in Wedding Videography ! Can they show you a finished wedding video not just a Demo? Professional companies keep full length masters of their weddings on file. Ask to meet the Videographer and view a wedding. If they don't have one, talk to another company that does. Do they offer a selection to suit your needs and budget? Professional companies will offer a choice of coverage and prices, to fit all types of weddings. If the company doesn't have a selection, it means they aren't flexible to their clients needs. This information was prepared to help you make a careful, informed decision on hiring the best wedding video company for your wedding! Planning ahead isn't easy, but one thing's for sure: Your Wedding Video will be the Most Cherished Memento of the Most Important Day of your Life- --for the Rest of Your Life !
